Chiropractic Care in Mississauga
Chiropractic care is one of Ontario’s most heavily regulated manual-therapy professions. A Doctor of Chiropractic completes eight years of undergraduate and doctoral training plus provincial and national licensure before practising. Treatment is evidence-based: we assess, diagnose, deliver care, and reassess.
What chiropractic looks like at Prime Health Care
- Spinal adjustment (manipulation). A controlled, low-amplitude thrust that restores motion to a restricted joint. Used for mechanical neck and back pain, headache, and post-MVA stiffness.
- Mobilisation and soft-tissue work. Lower-force alternatives for patients who prefer it or whose presentation calls for it.
- Post-MVA chiropractic. A common component of whiplash and soft-tissue rehab; co-delivered with physiotherapy and massage in our shared chart.
- Rehabilitation exercise. Prescribed and progressed by your chiropractor — the part that prevents the problem from coming back.
- Headache and TMJ care. Cervicogenic headache, tension-type headache, and jaw dysfunction.
What to expect on your first visit
A Doctor of Chiropractic will spend 30–45 minutes with you. Expect a structured history, a physical exam (orthopaedic, neurological, motion-palpation), and a working diagnosis. We explain what we found and what we recommend before any treatment is delivered. If your case is not a good fit for chiropractic — for example, an injury that needs imaging or surgery first — we will tell you and refer you appropriately.

Frequently asked questions
Is chiropractic safe?
For most patients, yes. We screen for the small list of conditions where manipulation is not appropriate, and we modify our technique for older patients and post-surgical cases.
Does the adjustment hurt?
No, although the audible "pop" can surprise first-time patients. Soreness for 24 hours after is normal.
Do I need imaging first?
No, although the audible "pop" can surprise first-time patients. Soreness for 24 hours after is normal.
In most cases, no. We order imaging only when a red flag is present or when management depends on it.
No, although the audible "pop" can surprise first-time patients. Soreness for 24 hours after is normal.
Will insurance cover it?
Auto-insurance accident benefits and most extended-health plans cover chiropractic. WSIB covers it for approved claims. See Insurance.
