Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy in Mississauga

Evidence-based active rehabilitation and manual therapy for motor-vehicle, workplace and sports injuries — and for everyday back, neck, knee and shoulder pain that just is not getting better.

Physiotherapy is a regulated health profession in Ontario. Our Registered Physiotherapists (members in good standing of the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario) assess, diagnose and treat injuries that affect how you move and how much pain you carry. We work from objective findings, not guesswork: every patient gets a hands-on assessment and an individualised plan you can see and track week by week.

What we do, by approach

  • Active rehabilitation. Graded therapeutic exercise prescribed and supervised by your physiotherapist. The single best-evidenced intervention for whiplash, post-surgical recovery, low back pain and rotator-cuff problems.
  • Manual therapy. Joint mobilisation, soft-tissue release, neural mobilisation, instrument-assisted soft-tissue work (IASTM), cupping, taping.
  • Post-surgical rehabilitation. Coordinated protocols after ACL reconstruction, rotator-cuff repair, total joint replacement, spine surgery — we communicate with your surgeon and progress you along their protocol.
  • Sports and soft-tissue injury. Acute and overuse injuries — sprains, strains, tendinopathy, hip impingement, runner’s knee, tennis elbow.
  • Concussion and vestibular rehab. For post-MVA concussion and benign positional vertigo, delivered by physiotherapists with advanced concussion-management training.

What to expect on your first visit

A Registered Physiotherapist will spend 45–60 minutes with you. You will get a full history, a hands-on assessment of strength, range of motion and neurology, and a working diagnosis. We will explain in plain language what we think is wrong, what we are going to do about it, and roughly how long it should take.

You leave with a treatment plan that fits in your week, a small set of home exercises (we do not assign more than you will actually do), and a clear next appointment. If imaging or specialist referral is needed, we will say so.

Conditions we commonly treat

Frequently asked questions

No, physiotherapy in Ontario is direct-access. You can book without a referral. Some insurance plans ask for one — we will tell you if yours does.

It should not. Mobilisation and exercise might be uncomfortable at first; sharp or worsening pain is feedback we want, and your plan adjusts.

Most acute injuries settle within 6–12 sessions. Post-MVA, post-surgical and chronic cases run longer. We will tell you our expectation at the end of the first visit.

Auto-insurance accident benefits and WSIB cover physiotherapy directly. Extended-health plans typically reimburse $300–$1,500/year. See the Insurance page for details.
