At Prime Healthcare your Chronic Pain Assessment will be performed by medical doctors specifically trained in working with patients dealing with Chronic pain.  All chronic pain patients will be assessed by our pain doctors and will be provided a wide variety of treatments for their condition including exercise, cognitive behavioral therapy, manual therapy, chiropractic treatment, acupuncture, pulsed electromagnetic field therapy, passive electrical therapies, psychological counseling, pharmacological recommendations and much more.

The Chronic Pain Assessment consists of an intake with a licensed chiropractor who will obtain your medical history and brief physical assessment to process the initial insurance paperwork and get funding approval for the assessment.  Upon approval, the chronic pain specialist will perform an in-depth review of your medical history, your current complaints following your injury, and a thorough physical examination before diagnosing you and making recommendations regarding your recovery.

During the medical history stage, the patient will be asked a wide variety of questions that are relevant to the details of their condition, what tests and/or treatments they have received in the past and if they have worked, the history relating to mood, home, and work environment, occupation, information regarding sleep, amongst many more things. Overall, getting an accurate understanding of what the patient is feeling and requiring.

During the physical exam, the information obtained during the history portion is used as the practitioner examines the patient's posture, range of motion, and performs orthopedic and neurological testing.  Lastly, the diagnosis is made after obtaining the necessary information from the specialist combined with the history and physical examination. Afterward, options for treatment methods can be discussed.
